The characters are terrific, the storyline gripping with plenty of suspense, mystery, drama, action, strong family ties, and light romance. I enjoyed the sisters’ joint roles in taking care of each other, and their interactions. Carter was also a nice addition. He and Jordan worked well together and even though there was an attraction, they were still able to stay level-headed and work together as a team. Kept my interest from beginning to the end. Had no idea who the murderer is. I read lots of this genre so I can usually figure out who the bad guy is. While a crazed killer is busy smothering girls by wrapping them in plastic, Jordan and Spencer are trying to catch him. They begin as adversaries both after the same case, in the end it takes both of them to stop him. Burton's way of writing about crazed, despicable, killers is my kind of writing. She had lots of experience dealing with drug addiction because of her job and family. When murders of women who had been into drugs began she was bound and determined to find the killer. When two women turn up dead, killed in the same way, she is incensed when the cases are taken from her and given to Texas Ranger Carter Spencer. But when she's injured on the job, he becomes her point man. And when the killer comes for Jordan, Spencer may be alk that stands between her and death. The story was excellent, made you think of who was behind the gruesome murders. You can’t ever go wrong with Mary’s books . Gutted it is finished.
